Terms of Service
These Terms are the agreement between you and Household Labs, Inc. for using Asher. They explain who can use Asher, what it is and isn’t, how your family space and subscription work, and what happens if something goes wrong. Please read them carefully, especially the sections on AI guidance, liability and disputes.
The short version. Asher is AI and can make mistakes. It offers general information and ideas, not medical, mental-health, legal or emergency help. You are the decision-maker for your child and family. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
About these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Household Labs, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Household Labs,” “we,” “us” or “our”), the company that makes Asher. They cover the Asher iPhone app, the withasher.app website and related features and services (together, “Asher”).
By creating an account or using Asher, you agree to these Terms and to the documents they refer to: our Privacy Policy, AI & Safety Disclaimer and Acceptable Use Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Asher.
When you join, the app asks you to accept these documents, and we keep a record of which versions you accepted.
Asher is in beta
Asher is still being built, and you’re using an early version. During the beta:
- Some features aren’t available yet. Where our documents describe a feature that isn’t part of the app yet, they say so. We’ll update these Terms and our Privacy Policy before we turn those features on.
- Things may change. Features may change, be limited or be removed, and Asher may sometimes be unavailable or slow.
- Subscriptions may not be offered yet. If they are, the Subscriptions and billing section applies.
- Feedback is welcome, and optional. We may ask what you think. Please leave private family details out of feedback.
If you use a test version of Asher through Apple’s TestFlight app, Apple’s TestFlight terms also apply to that version.
Who can use Asher
Asher is for adults. To create an account, you must:
- be at least 18 years old and have reached the age of majority where you live;
- be a parent or legal guardian of any child whose information you add, or otherwise be legally authorized to manage and share that child’s information; and
- be able to enter into a binding contract.
At launch, Asher is offered in the United States on iPhone, through Apple’s App Store.
Asher is not for children. Children and expected babies can have profiles in your family space so Asher can offer age-aware ideas, but they don’t have accounts and must not use Asher directly. Don’t let a child use your account. If we learn that a child is using Asher, we may restrict the account, contact the adult account holder and delete information the child submitted.
When you sign up, you’ll be asked to confirm your age and your parent or guardian status. Giving false information breaks these Terms.
Your account and family space
Your account
Each adult has their own account and their own sign-in. You can sign in with Apple, with Google or with a link sent to your email address. Keep your email account and your phone secure, because access to them can give access to Asher. You’re responsible for activity under your account. If you think someone has used your account without permission, contact [email protected] promptly.
Your family space
The adult who creates a family in Asher is the account owner. The owner can invite one other adult, such as a co-parent, partner or guardian, to join. Asher currently supports one owner and one invited adult per family. The owner manages the invitation, the subscription and deletion of the family space.
What’s private and what’s shared
- Private Ask. Your conversations in Ask are private to you. The other adult in your family can’t see them.
- Family Chat, Plans and Handbook. These are shared. Both adults in the family can see them and, where the app allows, change them.
- Saving from a private chat. If you save something from a private conversation to the Handbook, the saved card becomes shared family information. The private conversation it came from stays private.
Only invite an adult you trust with your family’s shared information, including your children’s profiles. The options for changing who has access to a family space may be limited. For example, an invited adult can leave by deleting their account, and the owner can delete the whole family space. If you have a concern about who can access your family space, contact [email protected].
AI guidance: what Asher is, and isn’t
Asher is an AI family guide. It offers general information and ideas to support you as a parent or guardian, and it helps you keep shared family notes and plans. Please read this section carefully. Our AI & Safety Disclaimer explains more.
Asher is AI and can make mistakes
Asher’s responses are generated by automated systems. They can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, not right for your situation or based on a misunderstanding of what you shared. Some responses may draw on information from sources we don’t control. Check anything important, and use your own judgment.
Not professional advice
Asher is not a doctor, therapist, counselor, lawyer or emergency service. It does not provide medical, mental-health, psychological, crisis, emergency, legal or other professional advice or services, and it does not diagnose, treat, assess or triage you, your child or anyone else. Using Asher does not create a professional relationship of any kind. Seek qualified professional help when you need it.
You’re the decision-maker
You decide what’s right for your child and family, including whether to follow any idea Asher offers. You’re responsible for deciding whether information from Asher fits your circumstances.
Asher suggests; you decide. When Asher suggests a change to your Handbook or suggests a plan, you review it before it’s saved. One exception: if your family turns on automatic adding for forwarded emails, complete events from trusted senders can be added without a review. That setting is off by default, and you can edit or undo those events. Asher asks you to confirm before it adds, changes or deletes an event on a connected calendar.
Asher doesn’t monitor your family
Asher is not designed to monitor you, your child or your family for emergencies or safety risks, and you shouldn’t rely on it to. Asher is not designed or intended for use in emergencies, and it is not a crisis service or a way to get emergency help.
In any emergency, or if anyone may be at risk of harm, contact 911 or your local emergency number, or other appropriate professional or emergency services, directly. Don’t rely on Asher for urgent or emergency help. In the United States, you can call or text 988 for mental-health, suicide, substance-use or emotional crisis support.
Safety resources
In some situations, Asher may show general resources, such as crisis, mental-health, substance-use or emergency contact information, based on the conversation. These resources are an informational convenience only. They aren’t an assessment, diagnosis or evaluation of you, your child or any situation. They may appear when there’s no safety concern, and may not appear when there is one. Whether or not resources appear doesn’t mean Asher has decided whether a safety concern exists.
What Asher remembers
Asher uses what you choose to save, such as your Handbook and family profiles, in later conversations, so you don’t have to repeat yourself. You can edit or delete saved information at any time, and the Privacy Policy explains what’s stored. Conversation memory, which would keep short summaries of earlier chats, isn’t available yet. Asher processes content automatically to make its features work, but it doesn’t make a professional judgment about you, your child or your situation.
The disclaimers in this section apply to the fullest extent the law allows. They are subject to the limitation of liability section and to any rights you have that can’t be waived under applicable law.
Your content
“Your content” means what you put into Asher, such as messages, Handbook cards, family profile details, plans, lists, text from voice input and information you bring in from connected services.
You keep ownership of your content. You give Household Labs a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to operate, secure, support, fix and improve Asher for you and your family, as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when your content is deleted, except to the extent the Privacy Policy explains we must keep something (for example, to meet a legal obligation) and for content you’ve shared publicly or into your family’s shared spaces.
Shared spaces. Content you add to Family Chat, Plans or the Handbook is visible to the other adult in your family, who can act on it as the app allows. If an invited adult deletes their account, shared content they contributed may stay with the family, as the Privacy Policy describes.
Information about other people. You’re responsible for your content and for having the right to share it. When you share information about your children, the other adult or anyone else, such as a teacher or caregiver, share only what you’re allowed to share and what’s useful.
What Asher creates for you. As between you and us, you may use what Asher generates for you for your own personal and family purposes. AI responses may be similar to responses other people receive, and we don’t promise they’re accurate, original or free of other people’s rights.
We don’t sell your personal information.
Sharing cards with a public link
Public links to Handbook cards aren’t available yet. When they are, these terms apply.
Where public sharing is available, you can share some Handbook cards using a public link. Before a card is shared, you review the exact content that will be public.
- Anyone with the link can view the card and pass the link on. Public cards aren’t listed in Asher for other families to browse.
- You can revoke a link at any time. Revoking stops future access through that link, but it can’t recall copies, screenshots or content people have already saved or forwarded.
- Check for identifying details. Before you share, remove children’s names and other identifying details, such as schools, locations or health details. Asher may point out some details to check, but its checks may not catch everything.
By sharing a card publicly, you let us display it to anyone with the link until you revoke the link or delete the card. Anyone can report a public card. We may remove or disable a public card that breaks these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or that exposes private information.
Connected services
Asher can work with other services you choose to connect, such as Google Calendar and Apple Calendar. Plans also uses map and weather services. Connecting an account is always optional.
When you connect an account, you authorize Asher to access it within the permissions you grant, and to use that access to provide the features you turned on. Only connect accounts you own or are authorized to use.
Connecting an email account (Connect email) isn’t available yet. Before we offer it, we’ll update these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
You can forward emails to your family’s Plans Inbox address, and Asher suggests plans from them. Suggestions are proposals. Asher may misread an email, miss one or suggest something that isn’t right, so check dates, times and details before adding a plan. Both adults in your family can see forwarded emails in the Plans Inbox, so forward only what you’re comfortable sharing with the other adult. Our Privacy Policy explains how forwarded email is handled.
Calendars
If you connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar, Asher can read the calendars you select and, when you confirm, add or change events on them. Changes you confirm may be visible to anyone else who shares that calendar outside Asher.
Maps and weather
Plans can use map and weather services for things like place details, travel-time estimates and forecasts. These are estimates, and they can be wrong or out of date. For severe weather or travel conditions, check official sources.
Third-party terms and availability
Connected services are provided by other companies, such as Google and Apple, under their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to your use of those services. We don’t control them, and we aren’t responsible for their availability, accuracy or changes. If a provider changes or stops offering access, a connected feature may stop working.
You can disconnect a service at any time. Disconnecting stops Asher’s future access to that account. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to information already brought into Asher.
Using Asher responsibly
You agree to follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short, don’t use Asher to harm, endanger or exploit a child or anyone else; don’t try to access another family’s information or another adult’s private chats; don’t misrepresent your age or guardian status; don’t try to get around usage limits or safety controls; and don’t break the law.
Subscriptions and billing
One subscription for the family
Asher is sold as a family subscription. One subscription covers the family space: the owner, the invited adult and the child profiles. It isn’t charged per person or per child.
Bought and managed through Apple
The account owner buys and manages the subscription through Apple’s In-App Purchase, using their Apple Account. The invited adult doesn’t need to buy their own. Apple processes the payment, and we don’t receive or store your full card details. Apple’s terms apply to your purchase.
The price, billing period and any introductory offer are shown on the App Store purchase screen before you confirm.
Starting free
We may let families start using Asher with limited free access before subscribing. What’s included and when a subscription is needed are shown in the app, and may change.
Renewal and cancellation
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
- Deleting the app or your Asher account doesn’t cancel your Apple subscription. Cancel it through Apple.
- If the price changes, Apple will let you know and, where required, ask for your agreement before renewing at the new price.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple, and refund requests go through Apple. We don’t offer separate refunds except where the law requires.
AI usage limits
Asher’s AI features include a family usage allowance shared by both adults. Messages between the adults in Family Chat that don’t involve Asher don’t count toward it. Current limits are shown in the app. We may change limits, and we may limit use to prevent abuse or control costs.
If your subscription ends
If your subscription or free access ends, AI features pause until you subscribe. You can still view, edit, delete and export your Handbook and the plans you created in Asher, message the other adult in Family Chat, use privacy and data controls, and contact support. Information from connected calendars is handled as the Privacy Policy describes.
Privacy
Asher holds information about your family and children, so it’s important you know how it’s handled. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and your choices, including how to request an export of your data or deletion of your account from Settings.
Asher’s app and content
Asher, Household Labs, the Asher name, the Bond Mark and other logos, the app, the website, our software and the content we create (other than your content) belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law.
As long as you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to download and use the Asher app on Apple devices you own or control, and to use Asher for your own family’s personal, non-commercial purposes.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you. Please don’t include private family details in feedback.
We may change, add or remove features over time. We’ll try to give you notice of significant changes that negatively affect you.
Ending your use, suspension and termination
You can stop at any time
You can stop using Asher at any time and request deletion of your account from Settings. Before you do, consider requesting an export of your data, also from Settings.
- If the owner deletes their account, the whole family space is deleted, including the Handbook, chats, plans and child profiles. The invited adult’s Asher account is deleted too. Before you confirm, the app asks you to download any export either of you needs.
- If the invited adult deletes their account, their account and private data are deleted, and their access ends. Shared content they contributed may stay with the family.
Deletion and export requests are processed as the Privacy Policy describes; they may not be completed instantly. Remember to cancel your Apple subscription separately.
What we may do
We may warn you, limit features (including AI features), suspend your account or family space, or end your access if:
- you break these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- we believe it’s needed to protect a child, other people or Asher;
- the law requires it; or
- it’s needed to prevent abuse, fraud or runaway costs.
Where it’s appropriate and lawful, we’ll tell you what happened. When we suspend normal use, we’ll aim to keep access to support, data export and account deletion where the law makes that appropriate.
If we discontinue Asher
We may discontinue Asher, in whole or in part. If we stop offering the paid service or stop operating, then to the extent practicable and as the law requires, we will:
- give you reasonable advance notice;
- stop new charges and turn off renewals, so you aren’t billed for time we won’t provide;
- provide a refund or credit for prepaid, unused subscription time, working with Apple where billing runs through Apple;
- give you time to export your data; and
- then delete family data as the Privacy Policy and the law require.
What continues after termination
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your use ends will continue, including those on your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, disputes and general terms. Your export and deletion rights continue as the Privacy Policy describes.
Disclaimers
Asher is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy and non-infringement.
We don’t promise that Asher, any feature or any AI response will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or accurate, and we don’t offer a service-level agreement or availability credits. We aim to let you know about significant outages, and for a prolonged disruption we may, at our discretion, extend your subscription period or provide a credit.
Some places don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these disclaimers may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under law that can’t be waived.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Household Labs and its officers, directors, employees and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill, arising from or related to Asher or these Terms, including your use of or reliance on Asher or any AI response, even if we were told such damages were possible.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising from or related to Asher or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid for Asher in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $100.
These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited under applicable law, including liability for our gross negligence or willful misconduct, and they don’t limit privacy or consumer rights that can’t be waived.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Household Labs from third-party claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, your violation of law or someone else’s rights, or content you share publicly through Asher. This doesn’t apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own conduct.
Resolving disputes
Talk to us first. Before filing a claim, send us a written notice describing the issue and what you’d like us to do, by email to [email protected] or by mail to the address in Contact us. We’ll do the same, using the contact details on your account, before bringing a claim against you. We’ll both try in good faith to resolve the issue within 60 days. Most concerns can be resolved quickly this way.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules, except where the law where you live requires otherwise.
Where disputes are heard. Any dispute that isn’t resolved informally will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
Arbitration and class actions. These Terms don’t require arbitration, and they don’t include a class-action waiver. If we ever add either, we’ll ask you to accept the updated Terms first.
Nothing in this section limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.
Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded Asher from Apple’s App Store, these terms also apply:
- These Terms are between you and Household Labs only, not Apple. Household Labs, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Asher app and its content.
- Your license to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Household Labs, not Apple, is solely responsible for maintenance and support of the app. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to conform to a warranty are Household Labs’ responsibility, to the extent not disclaimed in these Terms.
- Household Labs, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Household Labs, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your wireless carrier’s terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Questions, complaints or claims about the app should go to Household Labs using the details in Contact us.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, for example to how we use or share data, how disputes are resolved, our liability, or new AI or sharing features, we’ll let you know in the app and ask you to accept the updated Terms before you continue using Asher normally. You’ll still be able to contact support, export your data and delete your account while you decide.
For other changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If you don’t agree to updated Terms, please stop using Asher and delete your account.
General terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the documents they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about Asher.
- Transfers. You can’t transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, and we’ll let you know if that happens.
- If part doesn’t apply. If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don’t enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Events outside our control. We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices. We may contact you by email or in the app, and you agree to receive these communications electronically. You can contact us using the details below.
- Third parties. Except for Apple as described above, no one else has rights under these Terms.
- Headings. Section titles are for convenience and don’t change what the Terms mean.
